Informing Your Students
Your students need to know some basic information regarding the Elluminate session you'll be conducting. Below, you will find information and tutorials to help them prepare for the Elluminate session.
- An orientation email or letter can be very useful. For an example of an orientation letter, see The Center for Teaching and Learning’s Online Writing Workshop Letter.
- Provide students information regarding the minimum system requirements for using Elluminate.
- Inform your students of any other software they might need to read documents or other multi-media components you’ll use during your Elluminate session.
Some common
(and free) programs:
- Inform students regarding the type of Elluminate session in which they will participate because accessing the session will vary accordingly.
- If you have to email a link to your students, then you have an Elluminate meeting scheduled.
- If you have to email log-in information to participants, then you have an Elluminate class scheduled.
- Accessing recordings of Elluminate sessions varies by session type as well.
- Meetings: If you need to instruct students about how to access a recorded Elluminate session, you will need to contact OTEL to retrieve the link to the recorded session. You can then email the link to your students.
- Classes: Students may log in and access recorded sessions at any time. View a demonstration on how to access recorded Elluminate class sessions.
