Blackboard and Firefox 3 - The Assignment Workaround

When uploading an attachment to an assignment with Firefox 3, you will receive a popup error "please enter a valid file," even though the file is valid.

Blackboard does not yet support Firefox 3. If you have not upgraded to version 3, it is recommended that you do not upgrade.

If you have already upgraded, the following work-around may help. You will need to install a free add-on for Firefox 3 called User Agent Switcher 0.6.11.

• Install the User Agent Switcher 0.6.11 from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/59
• Open Firefox 3.
• Go to Tools > User Agent Switcher > Options > Options.
• In the User Agent Options Window, select User Agents and then click the Add button.
• On the Add User Agent window, enter "Blackboard" for the description and "mac" for the user agent, as in the image below.
