Course Evaluations
Whether the evaluations are performed online or on paper, all evaluations should be given at the last possible date that will afford students the most complete knowledge of the entire course and the grading for that class. Online courses may chose to use a UIS approved online course evaluation form. The URL address for the online evaluation system is http://onlineevals.uis.edu/
The online evaluation system begins three weeks before the semester ends. A reminder note is sent out via email at the appropriate intervals -- whether mid-semester for 8 week courses or at the end of the semester -- when the online course evaluations become available for all online students and for onground courses which have been identified for using the online evaluation.
A UIS Netid and Password are required to submit evaluations. Faculty cannot view results until after grades have been turned in.
Normally, a hyperlink to the online evaluation system is placed as a hot link in the discussion board with an announcement directing the students to the board or in the BlackBoard announcement section of the course.
Students should be made aware that the online form submits directly to the VCAA’s office and that the instructor will not see the results of the evaluation until after grades have been submitted. If you or your students are uncomfortable with this process, you may request the VCAA send evaluation forms to you so that you may mail them directly to the students with a return envelope to the VCAA office.
Turning in grades
On-campus and online courses work under the same deadline for reporting student grades. See the Instructions on turning in grades via Banner.
Incompletes
After the end of the semester, all previous semester courses can be made inaccessible (unavailable) to students. Students would not be able to view the gradebook, course content, discussion boards, virtual chat archives, e-reserves, or any other course information stored on the Blackboard server.
Please notify OTEL via email: otel@uis.edu, if you have students who will be taking incompletes in your course, and you wish to give continued access only to incomplete students.
Removing students from courses
Unless they are completing an incomplete, student names need to be removed from your course at the end of the semester and prior to the beginning of the new semester. OTEL can assist you in this process but will not do this without your specific request as removing students from courses removes all information associated with that student including grades in the Blackboard gradebook.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Removal of students from your course site removes all information associated with that student in the Blackboard online gradebook. You will need to export your gradebook prior to removing students.
