Leadership in Blended Learning: Understanding the Trends and Possibilities
This presentation and informal discussion will help equip administrators to be leaders in supporting blended learning initiatives in their units. We will discuss current trends in blended learning and the possibilities that a blended learning approach can provide in (1) increasing access to local populations and (2) improving the quality of the educational experience for learners. We will also discuss the strengths and limitations of a blended learning approach over a completely online or completely residential program and how the strengths may be used to market the program to potential students.
Innovations in Education: Models of Blended Learning for Improving High Quality Access to Learning
This session will share several learner-focused models of blended learning. Guiding principles for choosing blends appropriate for different instructional contexts will be presented. The focus will be on blends that primarily strengthen teaching and learning in the content areas. Participants will have the opportunity to share and discuss the challenges they anticipate in implementing blended learning classrooms. Ideas for how to choose appropriate technology tools to facilitate the blend will also be discussed.
